Katie is the Senior Special Projects Editor for Southern Living where she focuses on content strategy and audience growth. She has more than a decade of experience in lifestyle and branded editorial and covers a variety of topics in travel, food, and home. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Katie graduated summa cum laude at The University of Georgia and now lives in Birmingham, Alabama, with her husband, daughter, and pup. When she's not at her desk, you can find her coordinating cake layers, enjoying a jog, or hiking through the South one trail at a time.

Experience

Katie began her professional writing career creating digital content for Fortune 500 companies. She managed corporate messaging, digital storytelling, and product narratives for companies such as The Home Depot.

Since joining the Southern Living team in 2016, Katie has been dedicated to growing some of the brand's most successful pillars and franchises while ideating, editing, and writing digital content geared toward audience interests and search trends. As Senior Special Projects Editor, she also oversees content updates strategy, digital franchises, and freelance contributors.

Education

Katie graduated summa cum laude from The University of Georgia with a degree in journalism, a minor in sociology, and a certificate in new media.
